Cosmetic Dentistry

Myobrace is a removable dental appliance used mainly in children. It gently guides teeth into better positions while encouraging correct breathing, tongue placement, and swallowing habits. Myobrace is usually worn for 1–2 hours each day and overnight while sleeping.

Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment that uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into their ideal position. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign is virtually invisible, comfortable, and removable.

Invisalign aligners are designed using advanced 3D digital scans of your teeth. A custom treatment plan maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Every 1–2 weeks, you switch to a new set of aligners, which gently guide your teeth into the correct alignment over time.

Invisalign is highly effective for a wide range of orthodontic issues, including:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite, underbite, crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Mild to moderate crookedness

Complex orthodontic cases may still benefit from Invisalign, but some severe cases may require a combination with other treatments, all of which can be provided at Dental on George.

Yes, for most patients, Invisalign provides equally outstanding outcomes compared to traditional braces. The precision of digital treatment planning allows Invisalign to move teeth very predictably. Success relies on patient compliance (wearing aligners for 20–22 hours daily).

Treatment time varies depending on complexity. Most patients finish in 6–18 months, though some minor cases may take less time, while more complex corrections may take longer.

Unlike traditional braces that require frequent adjustments, Invisalign patients typically visit every 6–8 weeks to check progress and receive new aligners.

Invisalign aligners are smooth and custom-fitted to your teeth, so they don’t have metal brackets or wires that can irritate your cheeks and gums. You may feel slight pressure or tightness when switching to a new set—this is a sign that the aligners are working.

Yes, one of Invisalign’s main advantages is that aligners are removable. Simply take them out before eating or drinking anything other than water, then brush your teeth and reinsert the aligners. This means no food restrictions compared to braces.

Rinse aligners every time you remove them and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush. Special Invisalign cleaning crystals or mild soap can also be used. Avoid hot water, as it can warp the aligners.

Some patients notice a slight lisp in the first few days. Most adjust quickly as their tongue adapts to the aligners.

Invisalign has transformed millions of smiles worldwide with predictable, reliable results when used correctly. Advanced digital planning allows precise tooth movement, and most patients achieve excellent outcomes—provided aligners are worn consistently.

If you lose an aligner, contact your dentist immediately. In some cases, you may move to the next set, or a replacement can be ordered. Do not stop wearing aligners, as this may affect your progress.

Yes. Invisalign is popular with adults who want a discreet treatment option, and Invisalign Teen is designed for growing patients, with features that accommodate erupting teeth and built-in compliance indicators.

Cost depends on the complexity of your case and treatment length. At Dental on George, the cost can vary between $6000-$9500

Yes. Like all orthodontic treatments, retainers are essential to maintain your new smile and prevent teeth from shifting back.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are small titanium posts placed into the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots. They provide a stable foundation for replacement teeth such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. Over time, the implant fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration, creating a strong, natural-feeling solution for missing teeth.

  • Stability: They don’t move or slip like removable dentures.
  • Bone health: Implants help preserve jawbone and prevent bone loss.
  • Longevity: With proper care, implants can last many years—often a lifetime.
  • Natural look and feel: They restore function and aesthetics very closely to natural teeth.

Most healthy adults are suitable candidates. Good candidates have:

  • Enough bone in the jaw to support the implant (or can undergo bone grafting if needed).
  • Healthy gums, free from untreated gum disease.
  • No medical conditions that severely impair healing. A thorough consultation, including scans and dental history, is required to determine suitability.

The process usually involves several stages:

  1. Assessment and planning – scans, impressions, and treatment design.
  2. Implant placement – the titanium implant is surgically placed in the jawbone.
  3. Healing and osseointegration – the bone integrates with the implant (typically 3–6 months).
  4. Restoration – a crown, bridge, or denture is attached to complete the new tooth.

If you're considering dental implants, it's essential to understand the process involved. Here’s a detailed overview of the three main steps in getting a dental implant with your dentist in East Fremantle, WA.

1. Surgical Placement of the Dental Implant

The first step in the dental implant process is surgically placing the implant screw into the jawbone under local anaesthesia for comfort. The titanium implant serves as a replacement root, providing a stable foundation for the crown. After placement, the implant needs time to integrate with the bone, a process called osseointegration.

2. Healing and Impressions

After placing the implant, a suitable healing period is necessary to allow the bone to fuse with the implant securely. Once healing is complete, we take an impression or mould of the implant site. We send this impression to the dental lab, where specialists craft the custom crown (artificial tooth) to match your natural teeth.

3. Attaching the Crown

The custom-made crown can be either screwed or cemented onto the implant, providing a natural-looking and functional replacement tooth. This final restoration blends seamlessly with your existing teeth, completing the dental implant process!

If you're considering dental implants in East Fremantle, we invite you to book a consultation.

Implant surgery is typically performed under local anaesthetic, and most patients report little to no pain during the procedure. Mild soreness or swelling is common in the days after, but this is usually well-managed with over-the-counter pain relief and aftercare instructions.

Like any surgical procedure, dental implants carry some risks, such as infection, nerve injury, or implant failure. However, these are uncommon, and success rates are very high—typically above 95%. Choosing an experienced implant dentist significantly reduces risks.

  • Some initial tenderness or swelling is normal.
  • Stitches (if used) usually dissolve or are removed within 1–2 weeks.
  • You’ll be advised to avoid hard foods around the area during healing.
  • Regular follow-up appointments ensure your implant is integrating well.
  • If you notice prolonged pain, swelling, or loosening, contact your dentist promptly.

The cost varies depending on the number of implants, type of restoration, and any additional procedures such as bone grafting. While implants may cost more upfront than other options, their longevity and benefits often make them the most cost-effective choice in the long term.

Yes. Implants can support single crowns, bridges to replace multiple teeth, or even full arch prostheses (such as All-on-4®). This flexibility makes them suitable for a wide range of tooth loss scenarios.

No. Once restored with a crown or bridge, implants look and feel like natural teeth. Most patients find that even close friends or family cannot tell the difference.

  • Confidence to smile, speak, and laugh without worry.
  • Freedom to eat a wide variety of foods.
  • Long-term protection for your jawbone and facial structure.
  • A natural, permanent replacement that restores quality of life.

Most patients return to normal daily activities within a couple of days. Complete healing and bone integration, however, can take several months. The final restoration is placed only once the implant has fully stabilised.

Dental implants should be cared for just like natural teeth:

  • Brush twice daily with a soft toothbrush.

  • Floss or use interdental brushes around the implant.

  • Attend regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings.

Good oral hygiene ensures long-term success.

With proper care and maintenance, implants often last decades. The crown or prosthetic attached may eventually need replacement due to normal wear, but the implant itself can remain stable for life.

Holistic Family Dentistry

The core philosophy behind holistic dentistry revolves around eliminating sources of chemical and bacterial toxicity from the mouth. Our holistic dentists in East Fremantle, WA, focus on comprehensive health by considering the impact of dental treatments on the entire body. Holistic dental care prioritises treatments and materials that work harmoniously with the body's natural systems.

Preventing Chemical and Bacterial Toxins

Chemical toxins in dentistry often come from traditional filling materials, such as those containing mercury. On the other hand, bacterial toxins can originate from various sources, including gum disease, infected teeth and partially extracted teeth from previous treatments. If not properly addressed, these toxins can lead to chronic infections and systemic health issues. With holistic dentistry, we focus on preventing these harmful toxins from impacting your dental and overall health.

Common Holistic Treatments

Holistic dental treatments often include but aren't limited to:

  1. Biocompatible Restorations — These include crowns, bridges, fillings and other restorations made from natural materials like ceramic or composite resin, which are safe for the body and aesthetically pleasing.
  2. Safe Removal of Amalgam Fillings — We can safely remove silver amalgam fillings and replace them with tooth-coloured composite fillings.
  3. Gum Disease Treatment — Our holistic approach includes personalised care for oral diseases so we can help eliminate bacterial toxins and promote healthy gums.
  4. Infection Management — We provide personalised treatments for infected teeth and ensure any tooth extractions are free from residual bacteria.
  5. Nutritional Counseling — Holistic dentists may provide guidance on diet and nutrition to support oral health and prevent dental issues naturally.

Myofunctional Therapy and Orthodontics

Myofunctional orthodontics is a modern approach to straightening teeth and improving facial development by correcting the underlying habits that cause poor jaw growth and dental crowding. Instead of only moving teeth with braces, it focuses on training the muscles of the mouth, tongue, and face to function correctly.

Myofunctional therapy is like “physiotherapy for the face and mouth.” It uses specific exercises for the tongue, lips, and breathing to help develop proper posture and function. This supports healthy jaw growth, better oral habits, and long-term stability after orthodontic treatment.

Myobrace is a removable dental appliance used mainly in children. It gently guides teeth into better positions while encouraging correct breathing, tongue placement, and swallowing habits. Myobrace is usually worn for 1–2 hours each day and overnight while sleeping.

Breathing through the nose (instead of the mouth) filters, warms, and humidifies the air. Nasal breathing also promotes correct tongue posture and jaw growth. Chronic mouth breathing, on the other hand, can narrow the airway, increase the risk of sleep problems, and affect dental and facial development. Airway restriction in children is not just a breathing problem—it’s a whole-body issue. It affects craniofacial growth, sleep quality, metabolism, and oxygen delivery, which in turn influence learning, behavior, and emotional health. Addressing airway health early (through myofunctional therapy, orthodontics, ENT interventions, or habit correction) can prevent long-term physical and psychological consequences.

The tongue is the body’s natural orthodontic appliance! When resting against the roof of the mouth, it helps widen the palate, create space for teeth, and support a healthier airway. Low tongue posture or tongue-thrust swallowing can lead to narrow arches, crooked teeth, and even breathing difficulties.

Proper lip seal at rest keeps the mouth closed, which encourages nasal breathing and stabilizes jaw growth. Lips that stay apart at rest often signal mouth breathing or poor muscle balance, both of which can affect airway health and facial development.

Yes. Like all orthodontic treatments, retainers are essential to maintain your new smile and prevent teeth from shifting back.

A broad palate (roof of the mouth) means more space for teeth, a wider nasal passage, and better airflow. Children with narrow palates are more likely to snore, grind teeth, or experience sleep-disordered breathing. Myofunctional therapy and appliances like Myobrace help guide the palate to develop correctly.

Correct tongue and lip posture, a broad palate, and nasal breathing all work together to keep the airway open and healthy. When the airway is well supported, children and adults sleep better, concentrate more easily, and reduce risks of long-term health problems related to poor breathing.

Myobrace and myofunctional orthodontics are most effective in children between ages 5 and 15, while growth is still occurring. However, adults can also benefit from myofunctional therapy to improve breathing, oral posture, and long-term stability of orthodontic results.
